What is a Giveaway?

A giveaway is an event in which a user or a content creator puts an item from their inventory up as a prize for their community. The list of giveaways is at valodrop.com/giveaways.

How do I join a giveaway?

You join giveaways by making a deposit. You pay nothing extra to join: your deposit counts as an entry in the giveaway.

1. Open the page of the giveaway you want to join. The page tells you to deposit with the affiliate code of the person who hosts the giveaway. If the code is shown on the page, note it. If you cannot find it, write to the team (Support and contact).
2. Click the + button at the top right to open the deposit screen (How to Deposit).
3. Enter that code in the Affiliate Code field and complete the deposit.

The deposit screen shows how many entries the deposit counts as (“This deposit counts as ... free entries”) and tells you that you are joined to the giveaway automatically (“Auto-enters giveaway”).

How many entries do I get?

The host of a giveaway sets an amount per entry. For every such amount you deposit with the host’s code, you get 1 entry. The deposit screen shows in advance how many entries your deposit gives.

How do I host my own giveaway?

• You need an affiliate code to host a giveaway. If you do not have one, create it first on the Affiliates page (What is Affiliate System).
• An item from your inventory is put up as the prize.
• You can host only one active giveaway at a time.
• There are allowed ranges for the prize value and the cost per entry. The site warns you if you enter a value outside the range.
• Note: Once a giveaway is created, you cannot edit or cancel it, and the prize item leaves your inventory immediately. If nobody joins, the prize goes back to the host.

Is the draw fair, and how can I check it?

Giveaways are drawn with a provably fair method: the server seed is committed before the giveaway starts and revealed at the draw, so the outcome can be checked independently. The giveaway detail page shows the server seed hash, the client seed and the winning index. For the general idea, read What are Provably Fair and drop rates?.

I cannot join giveaways

The giveaway feature may be switched off for a while. In that case the site shows “Giveaways are currently disabled.”, and you can neither join nor create a giveaway.

Joining a giveaway can also complete a mission on the Missions page.
